A suspect was reportedly apprehended after they ran towards the school football field <br><br><br><br><br><br>Parents raced to the school, as parent Canard Walker said he 'got up here as soon as possible' after his daughter called him to warn him about an active shooter <br><br><br><br><br>Dallas ISD, the school district, said it has initiated a 'safety protocol', and numerous concerned parents have been seen racing to the campus. <br><br>The school district asked people to remain outside of the campus while police are on the scene. <br><br>Canard Walker, a parent outside the school, told WFAA that he was in a 'state of shock' after his daughter called him about a shooter at her school. <br><br>'I was on my way,' he said. 'I got up here as soon as possible.<br><br>'All the parents are in a state of shock, they just want to see their kids and make sure their babies are alright.' <br><br>One parent at the school said the campus has been fitted with metal detectors, requires clear backpacks and wands students who enter the building.  <br><br>Another parent of a 10th grader told CBS News that she was called by her son, and said he was shaken up by the shooting.<br><br>'I'm just all upset right now,' she said.
